Tony's story serves as a powerful reminder that addiction can affect anyone, regardless of their background or achievements. He candidly shared how he battled anxiety and depression, which led to a downward spiral of drug misuse, crime, homelessness, and incarceration.
Since his release, Tony has transformed his life, becoming an author, owning a drug and alcohol treatment facility, and a renowned mental health and substance use speaker. His message resonated deeply with our students, stressing the importance of awareness and vigilance against addiction.
Tony captivated the audience for an hour, answering their questions and taking countless photos, leaving a lasting impact on our young minds. Special thanks to Team R.Y.A.N. for their fantastic welcome and to Randi Kelder, who introduced the event just days after giving birth. Carole Kelder, Ryan's mother and former Saugerties principal, was also there to support this vital cause. Together, we stand strong against addiction!
