Saugerties Varsity Flag Football Athletes Get an Opportunity to Play Like the Pros.

The two teams were hosted by the Jets as part of the Gatorade Girls Flag Series on April 29.

The excitement didn't stop there! Following the game, the Jets honored one outstanding player as the Gatorade Flag Player of the Week. Chosen by Jets staff and the winning coach, this player received not only recognition but also a $1,000 grant for their school's flag program. This year Saugerties defeated Highland 25-6 and the Player of the Week went to Saugerties Junior Abby Hopf.

Through the Jets High School Girls Flag Football League, these athletes gain more than just on-field skills. They develop character, perseverance, teamwork, and dedication—qualities that will serve them in every aspect of their lives. This marks the fourth year for the league in New Jersey, the third in Long Island, and the second in the Hudson Valley—a testament to its growing impact.
